Inspiration
In a world that is constantly defined by its state of production and progress, the art of learning and teaching Mindfulness, Yin & Restorative Yoga – foundational practices in slowing down and turning inwards, is essential. These modalities have become not just a potent gift to guard and revere in one’s own spiritual pursuits, it’s become a necessity to share with our global family.
Whether practitioners, facilitators, space holders, empaths or healers, it has become our obligation to cultivate the tools of inner methodology that will support the collective consciousness as humans learn a new way of moving through this world. We are as a species constantly evolving, and now is a pivotal stage in our development to refine our neurological, emotional, psychological, social and physiological states to better encompass a world shared in greater serenity. This means building our own inner practices, and offering these insights to our students and spiritual tribes; how to uncover that which is hidden within. That’s why our Yin Yoga teacher trainings are built around decoding the language of the subtle body, and empowering each practitioner to tune in to the inner rhythms of their wisdom bodies.
This yin yoga teacher training curriculum is intermingled with Iyengar principles, Yang Vinyasa Flow, Buddhist Psychology, Neurobiology, Restorative yoga, Trauma-Informed modalities, and methods of mindfulness. A potent step on the path of awareness, Durga Excursions programming arouses a strong recognition in our own inherent nature of spaciousness and somatic sensation, while also acknowledging our evolutionary defense mechanisms of contraction, and disassociation. The expansive and contractive patterns of our being must be understood by each practitioner experientially, so that yoga as a therapy and as a lifelong discipline addresses the robust richness of each human life. The multiplicity of our experiences, which Yin Yoga as a practice embodies, hosts both the bliss body of light as well the shadows. A skillful practitioner, and an effective facilitator, has carved space to hold all realms of the practice. No matter the experience, in each moment we have the freedom of conscious choice to open, accept, and soften into circumstance or to close, disconnect, and harden from it. Training in connection practices and methods of generating insight, helps us to build the architectural features of our system engendering awareness.
Those who wish to facilitate Yin or Restorative Yoga will certainly need to invest in their own inner inquiries as a spiritual cornerstone to leading these sessions for others. An immense amount of encouragement and support is required for each facilitator to awaken from human habits of limiting beliefs, to create strengths and develop experiential insight. Durga Excursions teachings are designed to provide a sacred space and safehaven to dwell in the divine abodes of your own awakening practices, alongside ancient structures of awakening the bodymind integral connectivity. Through completing certification through the Durga Excursions Institute, you will hone your own inner abilities to respond to life as it unfolds in greater awareness, as you learn to rest in your authentic nature, and offer skillfull subtle practices into the art of Yin Yoga, Mindfulness Meditation, Buddhist Practices, and a life committed to awareness and restoration.
the dharma body
2500 years ago the Buddha recognized the tendency for the human experience to involve suffering. His revolutionary insight, applicable today now more than ever, is that humans also hold the agency to choose how to respond to external stimulus and internal circumstance to open more fully and eradicate the roots of their own suffering. The basis of the Four Noble Truths persist by noting the genuine path of the cessation of suffering. We are the crusaders of our own experience, and while we have this life to live, we can choose to live it vividly, responsibly, and compassionately. The heart of the Buddha’s teachings are interwoven strongly into our method of teaching at Durga Excursions, into foundational practices, and contemplative exercises. This aspect of our global Yin Yoga Teacher Training programs, offered in sacred sites and energetic vortexes around the world, is a strong asset to a robust yoga offering: one which incorporates movement and mind; animal body and Buddha spirit.
“The teachings are timeless and are able to be understood at ever more refined levels as one matures. The opportunities to practice are infinite. This commitment to living whole-heartedly invites lifelong learning – to continually seek and deepen our connection to our essence nature. By placing ourselves in a retreat setting, outside of our day-to-day experiences, we can continue the process of unraveling our conditioned patterns, creating more space to open to creative engagement with ourselves and life.” – Sarah Powers
